Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva attended the celebration of Epiphany Day in Plovdiv. The festive ceremony took place in front of the Dormition of the Mother of God Cathedral. Tsveta Karayancheva received the parade order of the representative units of the Bulgarian army that took part in the ceremony.
His Eminence Bishop of Plovdiv Nikolay performed the traditional water blessing of the military flags of the Bulgarian army.
Tsveta Karayancheva also attended the retrieval of the holy cross from the waters of Maritsa river. The crucifix was retrieved by Stoyno Gatov from the 68th Special Forces brigade.
Later in the day, the Speaker of Parliament laid flowers at the monument of poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev in Plovdiv on the occasion of his 170th anniversary.
